I understand why schools use semesters, but I believe administrators should consider the impact that constant class changes and new grading periods have on students. For people like me, the stress of transitioning to new classes and adjusting to new grading systems can push us over the edge. Keeping one consistent group of classes throughout the year could reduce that stress and possibly lead to better academic performance.

The impact of stress can be severe. For example, I serve as the Student Station Manager for the college TV station, and I can present confidently and effectively in that role. However, when it comes to academic presentations, I experience significant anxiety that I am still working to overcome. That contrast shows how environment and context directly affect performance.

There was also a situation where I lost one of my best friends due to immaturity surrounding the ethics of AI. I acknowledge that AI has drawbacks. However, we have to ask ourselves: where is the line where the benefits outweigh the ethical concerns? AI is going to change the world. Refusing to engage with it does not stop progress. In fact, those who refuse to adapt may fall behind, while those who learn to use AI responsibly will advance further in their careers.

I am not suggesting that anyone abandon their belief system. What I am saying is that schools should consider adapting their AI policies to reflect the reality of the professional world, where AI is already widely used as a tool.

At the same time, I believe people should be able to separate controversial personal views from friendships. It should be possible to remain friends with someone who holds different beliefs.

Which leads to an important lesson: choosing friends carefully matters
