I am thrilled to share some exciting news: I have been accepted into both Landmark College and Lesley University! As I prepare to make my final decision, I want to publicly compare these two institutions and explain what draws me to each of them.

Lesley University, located in the heart of Cambridge, provides a more intimate and personal learning environment. It’s an excellent choice for students who value smaller classes and a close-knit community. While Lesley doesn’t have as many specialized programs for neurodiverse students as Landmark, it still offers a solid academic foundation and a supportive campus atmosphere. The disability services office, though smaller, is committed to providing personalized attention to meet students’ needs.

Landmark College, located in beautiful Putney, Vermont is a school in Students with various disorders and neurodiversity this includes ADHD,Dyslexia they integrate different strategies to teach students who learn differently. Students at Landmark get a more personalized learning environment then a traditional university.

My love for podcasting and all things radio began when I was 17 years old, during a high school summer program at Landmark College. This program, held on their college campus, was transformative for me. I met some incredible friends, the kind of friends I had never had before—friends I could truly rely on. Through this experience, I learned the meaning of true friendship, which was deeply impactful for me.

During that summer program, I participated in a radio station activity for three weeks. At first, being behind the microphone felt intimidating because there were people in the room, and as an introvert, I’m not the most social person. However, I soon discovered I was in an environment where I felt comfortable and could truly express myslef while talking into a microphone. where When I returned home, I realized this experience would be a pivotal part of my future. It has since led to some fantastic opportunities and sparked my passion for podcasting.

If I choose to attend Landmark College, I know I will be building on this wonderful experience. Landmark offers a minor in communications, and I’m excited about the opportunity to deepen my skills through their year-round radio program. I could even host my own show on the college radio station, which would help me grow my podcasting abilities.

What makes Landmark College particularly unique is its specialized focus on neurodiversity and learning differences. It is one of the few colleges in the country that tailors its programs specifically to students like me, offering abundant support services and resources to help students thrive both academically and socially. This focus makes Landmark feel like an especially strong fit for me. Given my diagnosis of Hypomyelinating Leukoencephalopathy, the academic support center—with its individualized homework help—would be incredibly beneficial for my success.

I’d also like to share more about my personal journey with living with a learning difference. During Landmark’s summer program, I gained valuable skills in independence and self-sufficiency while living in a dorm for three weeks. That experience showed me that I could thrive in a supportive environment designed for students with learning differences.

Both universities have their strengths, and I can see myself succeeding at either one. However, Landmark’s specialized programs, its communications minor, and the opportunity to work on their radio station make it particularly compelling for me. As I weigh my options, I’m excited about the future and the opportunities both colleges offer. My Decision will be coming to an article soon!
